Hungary will offer Moldova the necessary support to obtain the liberalization of visa regime with EU, stated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at a press briefing in Chisinau, together with Moldovan PM Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Viktor Orban said that the first semester of the year is very important during the negotiation process. “We will do our utmost so that the negotiations regarding the liberalization of the visa regime come to a conclusion as soon as possible”, he said.
The Hungarian prime minister added Moldova was much better appreciated by the EU than the previous year. Moldova has been actively implementing European values through promoting multilingualism, decentralization, local autonomy. Orban said Moldova shouldn’t ask, but should promote European principles.
Moldovan PM Vlad Filat has expressed his hope that during Hungary’s EU presidency Moldova will be able to accelerate its European integration process. “I’m confident we’ll achieve success regarding the liberalization of the visa regime and we’ll open negotiations to join the European Common Aviation Area”, Filat has said.
This was Viktor Orban’s first visit in Moldova. He plans to come again early next year.
In 2011, Hungary and Poland will assume EU presidency.
