The Ambassador of Hungary in Chisinau Mátyás Szilágyi is optimistic about Moldova’s prospects of joining the European Union and considers that the country’s security is ensured by the advanced relations with the EU. He made such statements in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“Moldova has great chances of entering the EU because it did great reforms. The fight against corruption is underway. The administration shows real political will. The greatest factors that ensure Moldova’s security are the success in the process of coming closer to the EU and the maintaining of good economic cooperation with all the foreign factors. This balanced polity is a very important guarantee for Moldova’s security,” said Mátyás Szilágyi.
Asked to pronounce on the Gagauz problem, the diplomat stated that the Gagauz people in reality want Moldova to join the EU. “The problem is that they don’t know what European integration is and are misinformed by the Russian mass media. The governor of Gagauzia must realize that his people will only gain if Moldova becomes part of the EU,” he said.
Mátyás Szilágyi also said that his country is interested in launching investment projects in the energy and ecological spheres of Moldova, including waste recycling. Hungary is also ready to provide assistance to Moldova in implementing European standards in the production process.
