Human rights most active promoters awarded

The most active promoters of human rights were awarded Wednesday evening at a traditional ceremony oprganized the UN office to Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
30 journalists and 42 NGOs joined the contest. The winner of the 2008 Grand Prix is Radio Free Europe and its team of reporters.
The NGOs got 18 awards for “the best drive pursuing the defense of human rights”, “the most sustainable and lucrative partnership in promoting human rights” and “the most efficient cooperation with media in promoting and defending human rights”.
The first prize of the first category went to Tineri si liberi NGO. The second prize – to NGOs Amici dei Bambini and Promo-LEX from Chisinau and Tinerii pentru Dreptul la Viata from Balti. The third place was shared by Viata Noua and the Disabled Protecting Center.
No winner was appointed for the first prize of the second category. The second prize went to the Law Library and the NGO Initiativa pentru o noua Europe. Prize 3 went to Tinerii pentru Dreptul la Viata from Chisinau, AP Inteco and the Law Center from Causeni.
No winner was appointed for the first prze in the third category. The Independent Press Association and the Center of Journalistic Investigations got the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
12 prizes were conferred to media. Prize 1 in the TV category went to Leontina Vataman-Margineanu, OWH TV Studio and to Elena Pahomova, TV-7. The second award went to Angela Gonta from PRO TV Chisinau, and the third award to Daria Gvindjia, TV-7.
The second award in radio was granted to a creation team from the Independent Journalism Center.
In the written press and news agencies, there was no awards conferred for the first and second places. The third place was shared by Cuvantul newspaper from Rezina and the Investigative Journalism Center, plus the newspapers Novaya Gazeta, Argumenty i Fakty, Moldavskie Vedomosti, Vremya, Monitor Media and Infotag agencies.
The laureates got prizes from $100 to 1,000.
