The public association “Right to Justice”, which protects the interests of persons who suffered as a result of the judiciary captured during the rule of Plahotniuc, issued a statement, saying it welcomes the arrest of Dorin Damir by the prosecution bodies and the SIS, IPN reports, quoting the given document.

The human rights defenders say that namely Damir mostly took part in the persecution by order of inconvenient activists, politicians, journalists and entrepreneurs at the time of Plahotniuc. Namely Damir was the liaison between oligarch Plahotniuc and the courts of law and the prosecution service. He instructed judges and prosecutors who to persecute and against who to start criminal cases, who to arrest, who to dispossess of business or who to convict.

In the grouping of Plahotniuc, besides the criminal influence over the judiciary, Damir was empowered with sensitive missions. Damir was the one who illegally transported corrupt fugitive judge Chaus from Ukraine to Moldova. Damir incited the wrestlers-athletes to use violence against the persons who protested near the house of Plahotniuc and at his office in GBS Center.

The security agency “Argus”, controlled by Dorin Damir and his brother Gheorghe Damir, dealt with the illegal following of judges, prosecutors, politicians, journalists and businesspeople so as to find discrediting materials and to blackmail them later. The whole infrastructure of “Argus” was transferred to the security agency “Combat-service”, where Plahotniuc’s men Zubic, Mejinschi and other mercenaries found refuge.

The statement authors say the arrest of the head of Plahotniuc’s “guerrillas” is a blow given to mafia and an act of justice. But Damir should be yet jailed based on a court judgment so that justice triumphs. In such a case, all the destructive criminal forces will realize that impunity in Moldova is no longer possible and punishment will mandatorily follow.

The authors call on President Maia Sandu, Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo, the Supreme Council of Magistracy and judges to ensure the only legal and just ending of this case, which is to isolate from society the member of Plahotniuc’s grouping Dorin Damir, who is a threat to the stability, legality and public order in Moldova.

On July 5, the prosecution bodies informed that three persons were arrested in the case of the former Special Missions Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. These are the president of FEA Association, the head of the Bălți Police Inspectorate and an inspector of the Border Police.
