Human rights are most often violated in social protection area

Social protection is the area where human rights are most often violated. The head of the Center for Human Rights of Moldova Anatolie Munteanu said in a news conference on Friday that most of the complaints submitted to ombudspersons concern the violation of the right to pension, salary and social guarantees, Info-Prim Neo reports. “There are isolated segments where Moldova has a lot of work to do in order to ensure the observance of human rights. In some areas, Moldova made progress in ensuring the values, but we must admit that the litmus test for the human rights in Moldova represents the cases lost at the ECHR,” said Anatolie Munteanu. According to him, Moldova already paid €1 million damages in cases concerning the violation of human rights. The human rights are also often violated in the legal system, healthcare, security and safety of the person. Anatolie Munteanu said that concerted effort should be made by the NGOs and the state in order to fight or diminish this phenomenon. “The international organizations can only assist Moldova in combating this phenomenon, but nobody can mobilize and reorganize us,” Anatolie Muntean said. In 2010 alone, Moldova lost six cases at the ECHR, concerning use of torture. The International Human Rights Day has been marked on December 10 since 1948. It aims to remind of and emphasize the problem of human rights violation.
