The National Flag Day on April 27 this year will be marked by the public association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland ” (ODIP) by a number of events. Members of the association plan to spread out a huge tricolor in the center of Chisinau, IPN reports.
According to a press release of ODIP, in the morning of April 27 a 15-meter long tricolor will be spread out on the central block of the State University of Moldova in Chisinau. Students will distribute tricolor ribbons to teachers and will inform passersby about the significance of this day.
A Tricolor’s March will be also staged to spread out a tricolor that will be 100 meters in length. The event will take place in Europe Square starting at 5pm. Volunteers and sympathizers of the association will march on the streets of Chisinau and will hand out tricolor ribbons to passersby. The marchers will stop on the pedestrian street, where they will sing patriotic songs and will recite poems about the tricolor.
The National Flag Day will also be celebrated in Vasieni village of Ialoveni district. Students of the local lyceum will spread out a 15-meter long tricolor on the main street of the village and will distribute tricolor ribbons to passersby. The event starts at the Lyceum “Dimitrie Cantemir” at 12 noon. The event forms part of the project “Choice – Cultural Heritage: Opportunity for Improving Civic Engagement” that is financed by the EU.
The National Flag Day was instituted by Parliament on April 23, 2010. The tricolor was designated as the national flag by the members of the first legislature on April 27, 1990. The Government hasn’t yet announced a program of activities on the occasion of the Tricolor’s Day.
