Not much time left until Christmas according to the new style, but the buyers do not hurry to purchase decorations. “The people are short of money. The crises affected us all,” said Vasile, a seller working at the Central Market. The sellers say that the lights, garlands and beads are the most important accessories for the tree, but also the most extensive ones. “A garland of 3 meters costs 12 lei. One needs four garlands to decorate a tree of 1.5 meters. If we use beads, the tree is much more beautiful. One meter of beads costs 10 lei,” said Olga, a seller. “A set of lights is enough for a small tree, but a larger tree requires two sets. The lights cost 25 to 50 lei per set.” Some people want to have a nice fir tree regardless of the prices. “The decorations for our tree cost 200-250 lei. They are rather expensive, but they create a holiday atmosphere in our home. We will also put candies on the tree,” said Natalia, a buyer. “The fir tree reminds me of my childhood, the time spent together with my family and the presents that Santa Claus hid under the tree.”
