Three children fell from height in the course of a week. Two of them, aged two and three, are from Chisinau and they fell from the fifth and fourth floors of apartment buildings. The third is an eight-year-old girl from Florești, who fell from the fifth floor.

The three-year-old child, who fell from height when his mother was out at the shop and he was in his grandmother’s care, was admitted to the Municipal Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco” in extremely serious condition. The hospital’s spokesman Vitalie Chiosea has told IPN that the boy is still in intensive care and his state of health started to improve.

The child aged two, who fell from the fifth floor, was admitted to the Mother and Child Institute. Contacted by IPN for details, the hospital’s spokesman Maxim Cazacu said the boy continues to be in a serious state, but is already conscious. He will yet remain in the intensive care section.

The girl aged eight from Florești fell from the fifth floor when she leaned against the window insect screen. Asked by IPN to give details about her state of health, vice director of the District Hospital Ludmila Capcelea said the girl is in intensive care. She received an adnominal trauma and underwent surgery.

In connection with these incidents, the police issued a series of recommendations for adults who look after children. When the windows are open, the kids, being curious, are tempted to look outside. The insect screens are a trap as they are not safe and tragedies can happen when the children lean against them. The General Police Inspectorate recommends the grownups to explain the involved dangers to minors from an early age, even if they think that the children do not understand. “Move the furniture from near widows so as to exclude access to the windowsill. Block the windows with special equipment, place grating and bloc handles,” the police recommend.
