Housing construction diminished

In the first nine months of this year, there were built 2,834 apartments with a total area of 313,900 square meters, which represents 82.9 percent of the figure registered in the similar period last year, the National Statistics Bureau reported.
Private constructors accounted for 97 percent of the total housing built in this period. The population financed the construction of 173,100 square meters of housing, representing 56 percent of the total, or by 2.2 percentage points less than in the similar period last year.
270,100 square meters of housing, or 86 percent were built in urban areas, a 2.8 pp increase on the similar period last year
The bulk of the housing built in this period – 222,900 square meters or 71 percent – was built in Chisinau, down by 34 percent.
