Houses and cellars flooded in Sangerei district

Twelve houses and ten cellars were flooded on May 19 after the barrier of the pond in Alexandreni, Sangerei burst. A part of the villagers were evacuated. Emergencies Service press officer Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that a local commission for emergencies decided that the affected households will be evacuated to the gym of the local school. The 29 rescuers sent to the scene are pumping the water out of the houses and cellars and cleaning the gardens. They also take the objects to safer places and reinforce the levee. The rescuers are monitoring the levee built between Sangerei and Cubolta, which also may burst. The levee in Alexandreni yielded up to the large quantity of water that accumulated following the latest heavy rain. A yellow code advisory for heavy showers with thunder and lighting, in parts with hail and strong winds, was issued for May 19, the period between 14.30 and 22.00.
