Households who are currently hosting at least two refugees from Ukraine for a minimum period of one week can register by May 7 to get the one-off payment of 3,500 lei within the Cash Assistance for Host Communities Program, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
To receive the aid, the households from Chisinau can use the portal www.uahelp.md where both the household head and the refugee/refugees need to register by using the same code received on online registration.
In other districts of the Republic of Moldova, the families can continue to register in person at local councils (mayor’s offices) by the May 7 deadline.
Over 8,200 persons asked to be registered so far, with 6,700 of these being confirmed. More than 6,200 households were already transferred the money, while the rest of the applications are being processed.
Currently, Moldova hosts over 90,000 Ukrainian refugees. Most of them are housed by Moldovans in their homes. A part live in rented accommodations, while others were sheltered at temporary placement centers. In addition to the financial support, the refugees also receive warm meals.
