Households, farmland and public roads were reported flooded in Moldova’s northern districts following heavy rains and hail on Wednesday.
According to the Emergencies Inspectorate, the village of Pociumbeni, Râșcani district, was among the worst affected, with 30 households and 15 cellars flooded.
Mayor Ion Colțun of Pociumbeni has told IPN that a number of local roads were washed out, and the worst hit is the road that connects the village to the neighboring Pociumbăuți. Equipment has been sent in and the road is expected to be drivable already by this evening. In households, people managed on their own. The damage done to crops is yet to be estimated, says the mayor.
Elsewhere, emergencies commissions are working to determine the damages.
