Meteorologists forecast hot weather all over Moldova during the next days. Doctors warn that the small children, the elderly people and the persons suffering from cardiovascular diseases are most likely to be affected by sunstroke, Info-Prim Neo reports. Accoridng to the National Scientific-Practical Center of Emergency Medicine, the number of cases of myocardial infarctions rises by about 15% in summer, while of cardiovascular accidents – by 7%. At the meeting of the Chisinau City Hall on Monday, the Health Division head Mihai Moldovanu said that several cases of sunstroke were reported in the municipality the previous days. One of the patients was hospitalized. “The medical-sanitary institutions have been supplied with everything they need to provide assistance in cases of sunstroke and with drinking water for patients and medical personnel,” Moldovanu said. Doctors recommend reducing physical effort, avoiding exposure to strong sunlight and drinking three liters of water a day. When out of doors, the head should be protected by hats or umbrellas. The people are advised to wear light, loose clothes, best with long sleeves. The main symptoms of sunstroke include headaches, abundant perspiration, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, weak pulse, frequent respiration, high temperature. In case of sunstroke, the ambulance service should be called immediately. The person should be taken to a well-ventilated room and laid down with a pillow under the head, given water to drink and applied cold compresses on the forehead, head and chest. The temperature during the next days is forecast to rise to 35 degrees Celsius.
