The Ministry of Health announced that public hospitals will be provided with two to three months worth of supplies to avoid shortages due the war in Ukraine.
Among other sources, donations from international organizations will be used for this purpose as well.
“In the current emergency situation, the Ministry of Health, together with the Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices and the Health Care Procurement Center, is evaluating the risk of disruptions in the provision of certain types of medicines, mainly manufactured in Ukraine”, said the Ministry.
A list of medicines has been created to be used in a simplified procurement process, said the Ministry, adding that it is constantly monitoring supplies.
Earlier today, Chisinau’s chief health care officer Boris Gilca warned of a “potential crisis of medicines” given that Moldova relies on the Ukrainian port of Odessa for “the most part” of pharmaceutical imports.
