The coronavirus test required of patients seeking hospital admission for scheduled procedures will be covered by the national health insurance plan, announced Health Minister Ala Nemerenco.
With few exceptions, until now the tests were mostly covered by patients. “Effective today, absolutely all patients holding a compulsory health insurance policy will be able to have these tests, either PCR or rapid, done absolutely free of charge, either in the primary system or upon hospitalization”, said Nemerenco.
Private labs in Chisinau charge individuals 700-800 lei for a PCR test and 300-400 lei for a rapid one.
Two months ago, the Government reduced the price of PCR tests done in state labs from 755 to 300 lei. But it was only a few days ago that the Ministry of Health provided details by publishing contact information and working hours for the public laboratories. They are located in the cities of Chisinau, Balti, Soroca, Cahul and Comrat.
