Officers of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) found meat and other food products kept in inappropriate conditions at the kindergarten-crèche “Foisor” located in Ciocana district of Chisinau. The inspection was carried out after the Center was informed that the children there are fed with horse meat instead of beef, Info-Prim Neo reports. The officers also checked a truck that was on the kindergarten’s territory. According to the latest information, it distributed 210 kg of meat to at least eight similar institutions working in the same district. The truck did not have a refrigerator and the meat was kept in unsanitary conditions. The driver could not show a sanitary certificate for transporting easily alterable products. The meat was conveyed in plastic bags together with other food products, the CCCEC says in a communiqué. Employees of the kindergarten’s eatery said they ordered beef and do not know what kind of meat they received. The CCCEC sealed the fridges up and requested the Preventive Medicine Center to establish the origin of the meat. According to the Center, the products were supplied by a Chisinau company that purchased them from a firm based in Bardar village of Ialoveni district. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb said she has not been notified of this case. If the information is confirmed, officials of the Division will inspect the kindergarten and take measures, Tverdohleb said.
