The honorariums of bailiffs will not be larger than 500,000 lei. A bill to this effect was passed by the legislative body in the first reading. According to Liberal-Democratic MP Lilian Zaporojan, one of the authors of the bill, such a provision is necessary as the honorariums of bailiffs in some cases exceed 1 million lei, IPN reports.
“By adopting this bill, we ameliorate the situation of people without infringing the rights of bailiffs. The honorarium should be capped,” said Lilian Zaporojan.
Until now, the bailiffs’ honorarium wasn’t limited. According to the bill authors, the necessity of placing a cap appeared as a result of situations when the bailiffs received huge amounts as honorarium.
The bill provides that the honorarium will represent 0.5%, not 3% of the debt. If the execution procedure lasts for 15 days, the debtor can pay the honorarium not in full size.
