Home insurance should be mandatory, Dorin Chirtoaca

The insurance of realty, especially dwellings, should be compulsory. This would favor the recovery of financial losses in case of fire, landslides, floods and other disasters, Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. In the program “In profunzime” (“In Depth”) on Pro TV Chisinau, the mayor said that if the houses in the flood-stricken areas had been insured, the new dwellings would have been bought or built easier. Even if the people complain that their incomes are low, they should insure their houses, especially if they are in areas exposed to risks. They should not wait for the state to take steps. “It is often easier to point the finger, looking for those to blame, than to assume responsibility,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. “The village Cotul Morii revealed the real situation as few villagers worked alongside the builders on construction sites and few of them preferred to live in the houses erected by the Government,” Dorin Chirtoaca stated, adding attempts may be made to trade in these houses. The Government planned to build 706 houses for the flood victims from Hancesti district – 563 for residents of Cotul Morii, 115 for Nemteni inhabitants and 28 for Obileni inhabitants. A number of 440 houses were erected in Cotul Morii that was relocated to an area close to Leuseni village.
