Academicians, writers and people of culture honored Eugen Doga at an event at the National Library of Moldova entitled “Eugen Doga as the Man of the Millennium” , IPN reports.
Eugen Doga said the event where he was declared Man of the Millennium was a surprise for him. However, it is the turbinca (enchanted bag) that he carries on his back and tries to fill with something that counts for him. By his works, he aims to cover the blackness that embraces us like a veil.
Attending the event, academician Mihai Cimpoi said Eugen Doga is a dynamic personality of the national Romanian culture who made Moldova popular abroad and engaged Moldova in a European dialogue on values and in the global culture. Eugen Doga will soon become a titular member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts based in Vienna and will thus go to Mozart.
Academician Nicolae Dabija called on the audience not to avoid saying that Doga is a genius, now that he is alive. In 50 or 70 years everyone will say that Doga was a genius. Doga is an “Eminescu” of music.
On March 1 this year Eugen Doga turns 80.
