The Holy Fire will be brought to Moldova this year as well even if the Moldovan Metropolitan Church a week ago said the opposite. “A number of Christians with financial possibilities combined their forces to ensure the Holy Fire reaches Moldova this year too, the 18th consecutive year,” President Igor Dodon posted on Facebook.
In another development, President Dodon said that in a meeting with the administration of the Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and all Moldovan, he ascertained that the social distancing measures designed to protect the life and health in times of a pandemic will be in force during the Easter holidays too and thus recommended the parishioners to stay.
The religious ceremonies will be broadcast live on the public TV channel and the state radio station. President Dodon called on the private TV and radio stations to also broadcast these services.
Easter this year is celebrated on April 19.
