The Holly Fire from Jerusalem will be fetched on Holy Saturday, on May 1, and will be then distributed to each parish. The Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and all Moldova said the tradition of bringing the Holy Fire will not be interrupted this year despite the pandemic crisis and will be followed by obeying all the protection norms, IPN reports.
The Holy Fire will be brought from Jerusalem in the evening of May 1 at the Chisinau International Airport.
“For centuries, the Holy Fire has been considered a miracle of Orthodoxy. After Savior Christ was buried, a powerful light broke the stone and since then the divine fire start to burn on Christ’s grave every time during the vespers on Holy Saturday,” the Metropolitan Church noted in a press release.
An airline will support the mission of brining the Holy Fire to Moldova.
Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi earlier said the authorities are considering imposing restrictions on religious ceremonies, especially on Easter Night.
This year Easter is observed on May 2. The state of emergency is in force until May 30.
