Holding of office by deputy head of Centru district will be discussed at CMC meeting

The holding of the post of deputy head of Centru district by Petru Budurin will be discussed at one of the next meetings of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca told Info-Prim Neo. The mayor appoints and dismissed the heads of the capital’s districts. But the designation and firing of the deputy heads is the task of the CMC. The head of Centru sector Vladimir Sarban said that such a situation is not at all normal and the law on the status of the local elected authorities should be modified so that the mayor is empowered with the right to name and sack deputy district heads. Vladimir Sarban said that the State Construction Inspectorate obliged Budurin to stop the construction works and pay a fine and to modify the building project. He added that the Inspection ruled that the construction is not illegal, but the works were carried out with deviations from the building project. The local authorities said earlier that the former interim district head and the present deputy head of Centru district Petru Budurin should be dismissed because he started an illegal construction on Anton Crihan Street. Dorin Chirtoaca said that the municipal Prosecutor’s Office investigated the case and ascertained that there are no reasons for taking legal action against Petru Budurin, but in a letter to the local authorities suggested taking administrative procedures in the given case. The construction located on Anton Crihan Street became the main focus of attention during a raid of City Hall officials within Centru sector on September 17. Initially, Petru Budurin denied having a personal interest in the construction that was being built with serious deviations from the construction authorization. But later, when a neighbour said that the deputy district head was involved, Budurin said that he did nothing wrong. Also then, it was ascertained that Budurin’s wife was the head of the firm that was erecting the building.
