Eight hunters from Cahul town, Cucoara and Chircani villages were arrested by border police officers of the South Regional Division on suspicion that they were poaching. They were issued with authorizations for hunting foxes, but were caught shooting at wild boars.
On the scene, the border police officers found five killed wild boards and 12 mm caliber bullets spread in the field.
The hunters managed to run away before the patrol arrived, but they were identified and escorted to the South Regional Division.
The case was reported to the National Public Health Agency that is to order a medical-sanitary investigation. The suspects’ guns were confiscated for being examined, while the units of transport will be released when a relevant decision is taken.
