HIV-infected child makes open call

A teenage girl who came from Eastern Europe made an open call for a happy childhood without discrimination, in the names of 120 HIV-infected children from Moldova, IPN reports.

“I want the authorities to provide us with the medicines we need. More children like me should be helped. Society should understand that we are also people, as all the others,” said 15-year-old Iana, who accepted to speak openly before video cameras. Her HIV-infected mother transmitted the virus to her.

Ludmila Sochirca, director general of the National Council for Determining Disability and Work Capacity, said the reform in the area of medical examination of vitality that was launched on January 1 aims to support the persons with disabilities and all the HIV-infected children will enjoy the Council’s support.

“We are glad that an order made on January 28, 2013 enables the HIV-infected children to receive a pension until the age of 18,” said the organizer of the event Rodica Ivtodi, of the Association “Positive Initiative” that is a network of organizations with experience in HIV/AIDS.

In 2013, all the HIV-infected persons from Eastern Europe and Central Asia joined under the slogan: “Health can be bough! Its price is included in the budget”.
