The graduates of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the State University of Moldova for the first time took an oath of allegiance composed by themselves. The event was staged within the ceremony held to hand over the bachelor’s and master’s degree diplomas to the 128 graduates of this year. The graduates and teachers of the Faculty congratulated each other, IPN reports.
The idea of writing an oath appeared out of the care to ensure the ‘cleanness’ of the profession given that history is often used as an instrument for promoting interests from outside the area, including political and geopolitical ones. “Today, history is manipulated and nobody answers for such deeds. That’s why we decided to pledge to present the real history, with no lies, as the doctors pledge to be loyal and to respect the profession,” graduate Ion Chircu said after the ceremony.
“It is an amalgam of feelings because we are close to an autumn when we count the achievements. This year, we have the best class of graduates. I’m very close to these students who became my children in time as we did many things together. The most important accomplishment is the fact that we were accredited by the German National Agency so that our specialty of history is the first one that was included in the European Register of Specialties,” said the Faculty’s dean Ion Gumenyi.
“You are now graduates, but the line does not stop here. Let’s together make history,” pro-dean Otilia Dandara said, addressing the graduates.
Founded on October 1, 1946, the Faculty of History and Philosophy is one of the first faculties of the State University of Moldova. During over 65 years, the Faculty underwent many structural changes.
