Highest employment rate in national economy registered among persons aged above 50

In the 3rd semester of this year, the population employed in the national economy totaled about 1.4 mln persons, by 2.9% more than in the 3rd trimester of 2005. The employment rate of population of 15 and above was of 47.8%, registering a growth of 1 percentage point compared to the respective trimester of last year.
Men recorded a higher employment rate (49.7%) compared to women – 46.1%. In what concerns the residence criteria, the employment rate was of 46.3% in urban area and 48.9% in villages. The highest employment rate (69.9%) has been registered for persons aged between 50 and 54.
Based on the age criteria, the rate of employed persons aged from 25 to 54 represented 72.1%. Persons aged 15 to 24 constituted 11.2% and those of 65 and above – 4.5%. Four out of five persons aged 65 and above are engaged in agricultural activities.
In what concerns the criteria of the national economy’s activities, data shows that 39.9% from the total of employed persons operated in the agricultural sector. The rate of the persons employed in industry represented 10.6%, trade and hotel services encompassed about 15%. Medicine and education employees covered 13.1%.
According to the repartition related to the property form, 71.9% of the population is employed in private entities and a quarter (24,1%) – in state-run entities. The private sector dominated agriculture (97.4%), trade (95.9%), construction (94.3%), hotel industry (88.2%), processing industry (69.8%).
Self employed persons represented 32.9%. Employers covered 1% from the total of the employed persons, of them 51.7% operating in the commercial field.
10.3% from the total of the persons employed in economy worked in the informal sector, and 38.8% had an informal work place. From the number of those employed informally, wage earners represented one third; also 20.5 from the total of wage earners had an informal workplace.
