Higher salaries on Moldova’s labor market

The average monthly salary of a national economy worker over January-March 2008 rose by 28% compared with the corresponding period last year, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics. In real terms, the salary increased by 12%. The average remuneration of a salary earner in March was 2,371 lei. In the budgetary sphere, the average salary was 1,861 lei, while in the real sector – 2,639 lei. The employees working in the financial sector continue to receive the highest average salary – 5,061 lei. The workers of the energy and water supply sectors received 4,040 lei, while the employees from transport and communications – 3,488 lei. The lowest salaries are paid in agriculture, forestry and hunting – 1,230 lei. The employees working in fish breeding receive 1,343 lei and in education – 1,632 lei. The prices in Moldova since the start of this year rose by about 4.1%. The prices of food products increased by 7.4%, of non-food products by 0.9%, and of services by about 4.8%.
