Higher allowances for veterans with disabilities adopted in second reading

As from October 1 this year, the monthly state allowance for persons with disabilities who took part in the Nstru war, in the Chernobyl cleanup or in World War II was raised by 550 lei. A draft decision to this effect was given a second reading by Parliament, IPN reports.

The allowance for persons who got disabilities as a result of World War II will rise by 550 lei, depending on the disability degree: with severe disabilities – from 1,000 to 1,550 lei, with accentuated disabilities – from 850 to 1,400 lei, with moderate disabilities – from 775 to 1,325 lei.

The allowance for persons who got disabilities as a result of the war for defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova and for persons who remained disabled as a result of the Chernobyl cleanup will increase by 550 lei. This way, the allowance will rise depending on the disability degree: with severe disabilities – from 800 to 1,350 lei, with accentuated disabilities – from 650 to 1,200 lei, with moderate disabilities – from 575 to 1,125 lei.

For the surviving spouses of the participants in World War II or in battles during peacetime who died in the line of duty or of participants in the Chernobyl cleanup who died, of persons with disabilities as a result of war who died, the allocation will rise from 500 to 750 lei. The children of persons with disabilities as a result of war who died and of participants in the Chernobyl cleanup who died will benefit from the same rise.

The state allowance was increased from 500 to 750 lei for one of the parents who took part in battles during peacetime or in the war for defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova who died in the line of duty, for participants in the Chernobyl cleanup who died, for persons who took part in the Afghan war and participants in wars on the territory of other states, for rehabilitated victims of the political repression of 1917–1990.

About 75 persons awarded orders and medals for assiduous work and impeccable military services behind the front during World War II will receive an allowance that will be by 325 lei higher.

Additional state budget funds in the amount of approximately 31 million lei are needed for implementing the given provisions during the last three months of 2021. When the given draft decision is adopted after being given a final reading, 37,698 persons will benefit from increased state allowances, according to the calculations done by the National House of Social Insurance.
