The doctors and druggists who will decide to work in villages will get an allowance of 45,000 lei, while medical assistants, midwifes, assistants to hygienists and epidemiologists and surgeon’s assistants will receive 36,000 lei. The allowances for this category of specialists were raised by 50% and will be provided as a lump sum, not within three years as until now. The changes were adopted by Parliament in its June 9 sitting, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Health this year will assign over 1,000 young specialists to work at public medical institutions. To train a doctor, the state spends 250,000 to 400,000 lei, depending on specialty.

Deputy Minister of Health Liliana Iasan said the rise in allowances for young specialists and the payment of the allowance as a lump sum form part of the measures taken by the Ministry of Health to provide the public medical institutions with medical personnel.
