The strong winds of the evening of July 9 damaged power lines and downed trees in a number of settlements. One of these trees blocked a road.

Contacted by phone by IPN’s reporter, vice director of the Green Areas Association Galina Leahu said that about ten trees or large branches were downed in Chisinau. A tree was downed in the central park “Stephan the Great”, while another one at the Railway Terminal. No one was hurt and there was reported no significant damage.

Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that the rescuers were called to remove a downed tree that blocked the road going to Straseni. The 901 service was also called to pump water out of a yard in Ungheni.

The rescuers removed a metallic board from the roof of an apartment building located on Pandurilor St in Chisinau, which could fall. The high winds left 11 settlements in Ungheni and Straseni district without power. By morning, all of them were reconnected to the power supply.
