The high winds accompanied by rain of the evening of October 8 caused damage in a number of settlements in Moldova. The strong winds destroyed the roof the Boșcana mayor’s office in Criuleni district and of the church in another village. As a tree fell down, the natural gas pipeline was damaged and the special services were called out, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies the high winds also damaged the roofs of private homes in Boșcana. Rescuers have taken away the damaged parts that could have collapsed.
Damage was also reported in Glodeni town, where the wind partially damaged the roof of the local lyceum. Over 100 roof slates on nine houses were destroyed in Cajba village of Glodeni district. The lyceum of Visoca village of Soroca district was also damaged.
Local commissions for emergencies are gauging the extent of the caused damage.
