The head of the Southern Investigation Directorate has been apprehended today on unjust enrichment charges, following a number of searches.
It has been estimated that the suspect, whose job qualifies as public office, is worth 780,000 lei more than what he legally declared.
The investigated assets include a house under construction in suburban Chisinau, two flats and two parking lots in the city, two cars and more than 50 land plots. Under investigation are also a number of companies that appear to be affiliated to, or secretly owned by the suspect.
Prosecutors will now seek 30 days of preventive arrest for the suspect.
