The first neurosurgery was performed in the ‘hybrid’ hall of the new surgical block of the National Clinical Hospital. The patient – a 19-year-old girl – suffered from an expansive process of the brain that caused convulsions 2-3 times a day, headaches that could not be removed by medical treatment and weakness in the right hand and leg, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the hospital, as the left side of the brain that is responsible for speech, thinking and movement of the right hand and leg was damaged, it was very hard to remove the process without affecting the function of the healthy brain. In order to achieve an excellent post-operation result, there were taken a series of measures that are an absolute medical novelty for Moldova.

Even if the surgery was difficult and lasted for seven hours, the patient recovered in 15 minutes of the operation. She didn’t suffer neurological damage and was able to answer the questions. The young woman’s state of health is stable. She will be discharged in several days.

Such operations with excellent surgical results that are performed in the most modern clinics of Europe and the U.S. became possible in Moldova after the new surgical block was opened. This block is now the most modern medical-surgical center in Moldova, where the most difficult surgeries on brain and backbone can be performed at international standards.
