The Civic Initiative for Financial Transparency in Elections has formulated a plan for monitoring aversion hidden by the mass media. During a public discussion on Monday, Daniela Terzi-Barbarosie, director of the Partnership for Development Center and co-author of the project, presented the seven criteria that will be used to monitor the mass media outlets during the election campaign for the November 28 early legislative elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. The hidden advertising will include the unjustified appearances of election contenders in programs that do not center on the election campaign or the creation of conditions for ensuring the appearance of a contender; rerun of a certain program for several times; presentation of a candidate in the light wanted by the journalist; situations in which the journalist will allow the candidate to choose the topic for discussion during a program, debate or an interview, etc. Daniela Terzi-Barbarosie said the phrase “electoral publicity” often appears at the end of the program and is written with small letters or illegibly and this is a violation of the electoral norms The Civic Initiative for Financial Transparency in Elections is implemented by the Resource Center for Human Rights and the Partnership for Development Center, with support from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. The project’s monitors will follow how transparently the political parties will compile the financial reports during the election campaign.
