On Friday morning, commemoration ceremonies were held in all the local subdivisions of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. The rescuers and firefighters flew the flags at half-mast and observed a moment’s silence in memory of the Romanian mates who died in the line of duty.

The tragedy in Haragâș happened on June 2, 2016. The helicopter was flying to Cahul district to take a patient and crashed due to the unfavorable weather.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, since the crossborder project SMURD was launched in Moldova in 2014, 122 crossborder air medical operations to transport and save Moldovans have been performed.
