Representatives of Bessarabian student organizations in Romania announced that the Moldovan young people in Moldova can count on their support in the process of applying to Romanian high schools and universities, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Volunteers of Bessarabian student organizations in Romania will be at the Romanian consulates in Moldova to provide assistance to students in filling out the applications and submitting the necessary documents. They will give them advice and share their own experience. Also, the young people admitted to high schools and universities in Romania will be met by representatives of the organizations at the railway terminal and helped to get to the accommodation places and to become familiar with the city,” Irina Bystritski, deputy head of the Bessarabian Student Organization in Timisoara, told a news conference on July 28. The students will be also helped to file the original documents to education institutions after admission and to obtain the permit of stay for the period of the studies. According to Stefan Miron, head of the Bessarabian Student Organization in Bucharest, the Bessarabian student organizations in Romania become involved in a number of components of the admission process. Owing to their insistence, last year there were provided 1 000 additional budget-funded places for Bessarabian applicants, but without scholarship. They also helped eliminate the tax of 120 euros a year paid by the Bessarabian students for the permit of stay. Every year, the Bessarabian Student Organization of Bucharest, the Bessarabian and Bucovinian Student Club of Galati, the Association of Young Bessarabians of Iasi, the Bessarabian Student Organization of Timisoara and the Bessarabian student organizations of other centers implement the project “Adopt a Young Student” within which they facilitate the Moldovan students’ integration into the Romanian academic, social and cultural environment. The period of admission to Romanian education institutions for Moldovans will last from July 31 until August 8. This year, there are offered 5 000 places.
