The helicopters owned by the state-run company “Moldaeroservice” can provide air ambulance services for the Moldovan hospitals, based on a contract with the Emergency Medical Assistance Service, Minister of Transport Vasile Botnari announced, quoted by IPN.

“Moldaeroservice” possesses six helicopters, two of which can be reequipped for sanitary necessities. In a roundtable meeting, Vasile Botnari said that during 20 years Moldova hasn’t had an appropriate air ambulance service. For immediately transporting patients, doctors use ambulances.

The minister stated the re-launch of the air ambulance service will be possible based on a partnership with the Ministry of Health. The Emergency Medical Assistance Service will be the beneficiary. A working group was created to implement the project. It already started work.

The director of IS “Moldaeroservice” Alexei Rogov said the company has the capacities needed to provide emergency transportation services, including qualified pilots who were trained to land in difficult conditions. The helicopters will stay in Chisinau and in Balti.
