Firefighters during the last 24 hours struggled to contain fires that destroyed hectares of crop fields and dry vegetation. They dealt with 66 such cases in the period, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the rescuers intervened in Corlăteni and Pîrjota villages of Râșcani district, in Humulești village of the municipality of Chisinau, in Dezghingea village of Comrat district, in Purcari village of Ștefan Vodă district, where the firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to the local wood.
The Inspectorate calls on the citizens to avoid using open fire close to fields and woods so as to avoid the destruction of vegetation and field crops during the harvesting, and to strictly obey the fire safety rules, primarily during dog days and when moisture level is low. The grownups looking after children are urged to permanently supervise these and not to allow them to play with fire. In emergencies, one should call the 112 Service.
