The ensemble “Hecenii” from Heciul Nou village of Sângerei district ranked third in the final of the contest Romania’s Got Talent. The Moldovan dancers won €10,000, IPN reports. President Maia Sandu came with a congratulatory message. “Congratulations, Hecenii, for the joy you brought to all the Moldovans! You have made Moldova proud!'” said the head of state.

The ensemble attracted public attention after they got the Golden Buzz special prize, which earned them qualification for the semi-final of the competition. “Folklore will never die because, seeing you, it seems to me that the future sounds good. I have never seen such dedication in folk dances and I know it is a premiere,” singer Andra said before pressing the Golden Buzz button. It is for the first time in history when a folk group received the Golden Buzz at the contest  Romania’s Got Talent.

After this success, the ensemble was invited to the Presidential Palace. Maia Sandu asked the authorities to find as soon as possible, together with the local public administration of Sângerei district, a new, modern space that meets the needs so that the young people could further dance and promote the national traditions. The Government decided to allocate 1.3 million lei for the rehabilitation of the space where “Hecenii” have rehearsals.

At the 14th edition of Romania’s Got Talent, the Grand Prize was won by naist Cristian Ciaușu, who won €120,000. The second place was occupied by singer Ana Nuță, who was given €20,000.
