The Government approved amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, by which the fines for violating the rules of using roads by vehicles with tank treads, carts and vehicles equipped inappropriately, which transport loads that can dirty the road or reduce road safety, were increased, Info-Prim Neo reports. The fines for private individuals will oscillate between 600 and 1,000 lei, while for legal entities – between 3,000 and 4,000 lei. The same fines will be imposed on motor vehicles that carry materials without tarpaulin or without obeying the tonnage norms. Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Boris Gherasim said the companies authorized to extract mineral resources cause serious damage to the road infrastructure. There are 110 quarries and 43 mines in Moldova. Both the drivers and vehicle owners ignore the tonnage or size restrictions on the use of public roads. It was suggested imposing also fines for absence of scales on these vehicles or for overloading trucks with extracted materials. The fines will vary between 3,000 and 4,000 lei.
