Starting March 11, the heating season will end in Chisinau. Such a decision was taken on Monday, March 10, at the City Hall’s sitting, as Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca is to sign a relevant decision during the day, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy mayor Vlad Cotet has suggested to cease the delivery of the thermal agent in the city, on reason the weather forecast is favorable. According to the deputy mayor, till March 21, the average air temperature will be around +10ºC. At the same time, on March 21 the average the air temperature will be +3ºC, what means a temperature of 0 -1ºC at night. According to Vlad Cotet, the forecast for March 21 should not be a concern since the decrease in temperature later in March is specific phenomenon for Moldova. The same opinion was shared by deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu. The public servant has said the cold wouldn’t last for long, and the walls of apartments wouldn’t get too cold. “If we stop the heating now, the losses are going to be incomparably less than the gains we may get,” the deputy mayor said. The General Mayor has stated that, as the thermal agent is stopped, the preparations for the 2008-2009 cold season will start in the municipality, at least as the 2007-2008 season started. Dorin Chirtoaca referred to isolation and prophylactic works operated on the municipal networks. The mayor has also said a new tariff will be considered. The municipality is to later decide on the mechanism of granting nominative compensations. No representative of the heat-supplier “Termocom” SA was present at the City Hall sitting. Earlier, the administration of the monopoly said no representative of the company will attend the City Hall’s sittings and will present no report, until the heating charge was raised.
