A group of Comrat residents lodged a challenge with the district electoral council, demanding that the color of the ballot for the local mayoral elections be modified. They do not want it to be pink, but purple. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Fiodor Gaidarji, chairman of the Comrat district electoral council, said the authors of the challenge assert that Comrat has the status of municipality and thus the ballots should have the same color as those for the mayoral elections in Chisinau and Balti, i.e. purple. The council readdressed the application to the Central Election Commission. Earlier, the president of the Central Election Commission announced that the ballots for the June 5 local elections will be pink for the mayoral elections in villages and towns, purple for the mayoral elections in the municipalities of Balti and Chisinau, beige for the election of district and municipal councils, and gray for the election of village and town councils.
