The distribution and sale of land in the municipality of Chisinau was the subject of a heated debate between the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca and the leader of an NGO in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
Vitalie Voznoi, who heads the organization “My dear town”, accused the mayor of committing illegalities when distributing land, referring to a plot of 1,000 square meters that was leased out to Prosecutor of Chisinau municipality Ivan Diacov for only 177 lei a year.
“Owing to the illegal allocation of land, the capital city loses 30-60 million lei. Also, why do you offer authorizations for illegal constructions? Why don’t you compile a blacklist of these companies? Why don’t officials of the City Hall come to hearings when you are in litigation with entrepreneurs who break the law?” Voznoi asked the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca replied that the occupation of a person is not taken into account when they distribute the land. The applicant must only have all the required documents in order. “We extend the existing contractual relations or implement court decisions. We cannot allot land from the very beginning and cannot auction land. If we pretend to be a European state, we cannot annul public property,” stated the mayor.
