Chisinau officials on Monday announced measures to help residents cope with the heat wave which has entered its third day, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mobile medical teams will be set up to provide assistance to people in the street in case of heat stroke. For the same purpose, paramedics will stay on guard at the suburban recreational area of Vadul lui Voda, especially at the weekend when it is most popular. “In the Central Market, an ambulant medical unit has already been set up to provide first aid, and other mobile units will soon appear in other crowded areas in the city as well”, said Chisinau's chief doctor Luminita Suveica. The municipal division responsible for roads is tasked to spray the pavement with water, and the Emergencies Division will patrol parks to prevent bushfire. The Sanitary Service will tighten control of the selling conditions of spoilable foods. In the same context, Mayor Chirtoaca, asked for a stricter control of how fermented beverages like kvass are sold. A yellow-code heat advisory has been in place from Saturday, July 9, and will remain in effect until Friday, July 15.
