The electrify charges for end-users will not change at least until the beginning of April, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar told the press on Thursday, when speaking about the possible consequences of the expected rise in gas charges, Info-Prim Neo reports. Valeriu Lazar said that the contract signed by the private and state power distribution networks with the Cuchurgan Power Plant is valid until March 31. It contains such a provision. “After March 31, we will see what rises will be and if they will be. Talks are now conducted over a new contract with the Cuchurgan Power Plant, which supplies 70% of the electric power consumed by Moldova. The rest of the electricity is produced by the thermoelectric plants and other companies. A small part of power is imported from Ukraine. Negotiations are held not only with this supplier, but also with other companies in order to diversify the sources of power and increase Moldova’s energy security,” Lazar said. He also said that the heat charges will probably rise. SA Termocom already asked the national energy regulator to consider such a possibility. The thermoelectric plants will make similar requests. The regulator is to take a decision.
