The commission of inquiry for elucidating the circumstances of the possible interference by the Foundation “Otwarty Dialog” (“Open Dialogue”) and its founder Ludmila Kozlowska in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova and of the financing of particular political parties started to question the responsible authorities on November 2. The hearings are held behind closed doors, IPN reports.

In the opening of the hearings to which the press had access, the commission’s chairman Igor Vremea said the commission of inquiry today continues its activity by staging hearings. “We decided to hold the hearings behind closed doors given the special character of particular information and the requests made by the institutions that provided it to us,” stated Igor Vremea. According to the MP, the public opinion will be later informed about the results of the investigation and the subsequent steps that will be taken.

The MPs are to question representatives of a number of public institutions. Earlier, Igor Vremea said the administration of the Security and Intelligence Service, the Ministry of the Interior, the Center for Combating Money Laundering and the Prosecutor General’s Office will be invited to the first hearings.

A group of Democratic MPs sent letters to a number of state institutions, seeking investigations into the possible activities against the Republic of Moldova staged by Ludmila Kozlowska, who holds Russian and Ukrainian nationalities and who was recently expelled from Poland and the EU for links with the Russian intelligence services, and of the Foundation “Otwarty Dialog”, and into the ties of the Foundation and its founder with the parties PAS and PPDA, including possible aspects of illegal financing or provision of benefits to the given parties.
