The lawmakers observed a moment’s silence in memory of the victims of the April 7, 2009 events in the April 5 sitting. At the request of all the parliamentary factions, it was agreed that the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior and the Security and Information Service on April 11 will render reports in Parliament on the development of the investigations into the 2009 events, IPN reports.

On April 4 it is four years since the mass protests staged against the Communist Party’s victory in the April 5 parliamentary elections. The protesters were convinced that the elections were rigged and demanded that the results are invalidated and that new elections are called. The peaceful protest degenerated into violence and the Parliament Building and the Presidential Office were devastated. The events resulted in dozens of persons injured, including among the police, arrests and cases of ill-treatment in police stations. A young man who died - Valeriu Boboc – was officially classed as a victim of police ill-treatment. The trying of Ion Perju, who is suspected of casing Boboc’s death, is not yet over.

Hearings will be also held in Parliament on the sale of armament from Moldova to a number of states and on the consequences of the decision of the commission of inquiry into the hunting incident in the Domneasca Foirest, which ended in the death of a man.
