The hearing in the case of mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor at the Appeals Court was put off after the culprit complained that he feels sick and an ambulance was called, IPN reports. The Court was to examine the lawyer’s request concerning the decision of the Buiucani Court to extend the remand detention for Shor for 30 days.
The lawyers said that in the previous hearing they presented the medical conclusions of a foreign clinic according to which Ilan Shor suffers from a cardiac disease.
Today’s hearing was postponed at the lawyers’ request. According to prosecutor Andrei Baiesu, the defense invoked that they must present evidence showing that the accused Ilan Shor cannot stay under arrest. “We consider this is a tactic of the defense because the conclusions of national doctors haven’t been yet presented,” said the prosecutor.
In front of the Appeals Court, sympathizers of the mayor of Orhei staged a protest in support of Shor’s release.
Ilan Shor was arrested on June 22 this year on charges of swindle and money laundering in a case concerning the bank frauds at Banca de Economii.
