The hearing in the case of the bad loans at Banca de Economii (Savings Bank), scheduled for February 12, was postponed. According to prosecutor Eugen Balan, the hearing was put off because the representative of the injured party was absent, IPN reports.
Five members of the bank’s lending committee are accused of violating the lending rules and of causing considerable damage to the financial institution.
The investigation results show that in 2010-2011, the former president of Banca de Economii, in cooperation with four members of the lending committee, illegally released loans to the value of US$2.45 million to an economic entity.
The defense of the lending committee members said the next hearing in this case will take place in March.
