The health system is ready to start the vaccination against COVID-19 and to use the quantities of vaccines the country will get, regardless of the producer and type of shots, Tatiana Zatyk, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, stated in a press briefing.

On January 7, the Ministry of Health received confirmation from the GAVI (Vaccine Alliance) that the Republic of Moldova could get the first consignment of COVID-19 shots until the end of January and immunization could thus start in February.

The national COVID-19 vaccination plan stipulates three immunization stages, depending on the availability of vaccines. At the first stage, there will be vaccinated the personnel of public health facilities (of intensive care units, COVID-19 hospital wards, etc.). The second stage will cover the adults older than 60 and persons with comorbidities, police employees and others, while the third stage will embrace the general population, regardless of age. There will also be vaccinated persons who recovered from COVID19, without these needing to do an antibody test.

The vaccines will be administered free of charge. They will be available to all the healthcare workers, regardless of the legal form, according to prioritization.
